INDOORS
Au Berg – the villa
We offer a true break in beautiful Languedoc-Roussillon with a comfortable and private 4-bedroom villa (6-8 pers.), 5-10 mins from the impressive medieval Cité of Carcassonne – yet away from the crowds -, the picturesque Canal du Midi and the plentiful vineyards.
There is a comfortable bathroom with a full bath, a separate Italian shower, and a WC. An additional WC is available by the hallway. The sleeping part of the house is slightly separated from the living area, so children can sleep in peace while adults enjoy their own space.
The large living room and the dining area have direct access to the fully equipped kitchen. It includes a fridge/freezer, oven, combi microwave oven, dishwasher, coffee machines and all the utensils and dishes you could hope for.
For your entertainment, you have access to a TV with French free channels, Netflix built into the decoder, and a DVD player with a selection of DVDs. Free wi-fi is available.

The Canal du Midi
What stole our heart is the beautiful 240km long Canal du Midi originally named the Canal royal en Languedoc. It was designed and built by Pierre-Paul Riquet in the 17th century to connect the Atlantic with the Mediterranean on French soil – thus avoiding having to deal with British and Portuguese warships. It is a truly amazing piece of architecture and offers a very pleasant environment for shady walks, typical local restaurants whilst watching the slowly gliding barges. There are many interesting ports (with locks/écluses) to visit along the Canal, one of the more impressive is the eight-lock “escalier” at Béziers, our favorite ones in Homps and l’écluse de l’Aiguille in Puichéric, and, even nearer to home, pretty Trèbes and Carcassonne ports.
